Lifetime TV Network is not normally known for its hit original programming but they have a hit with ‘Who is Clark Rockefeller?’ The made for TV movie stars Eric McCormack and Sherry Stringfield in the title roles and while the story seems some what unbelievable, it is actually based on a true story. The movie premiered on March 13th on Lifetime and had multiple runs all weekend.
Eric McCormack stars as Clark Rockefeller, a man who is actually an immigrant from Germany with no real connection to the real and rich Rockefellars. He kidnaps his daughter and the FBI are in charge of finding her, while trying to find out who is Clark Rockefeller? McCormack plays the title role convincingly and as the storyline gets darker and deeper, you try to look past his charm, suave and good looks to find out the truth.
Sherry Stringfields character, Sandra Boss, is somewhat annoying. And I don’t know if that is because of Sherry’s performance or the character. Something about her is annoying, unbelievable and irritating. Just as the FBI had a hard time believing what she said she knew or didn’t know, so did I the viewer. Though, this was a true story about a serious issue (kidnapping) and then maybe homicide, it was hard to feel sorry for Sandra Boss at times. It seemed as if she wasn’t completely honest about everything herself and that there was a lot more to the story than met the eye.I mean really, you married a Rockefeller and he is bouncing $2000 checks and you have to pay all the bills? Signs- anyone?
‘Who is Clark Rockefeller?’ is one of the best most original Lifetime movies that doesn’t have deal with a man having an affair and then trying to kill the wife or the woman he is having the affair with. It is definitely worth a viewing if you have a couple of hours, if only to see and find out who Clark Rockefeller really was.
‘Who is Clark Rockefeller’ is a Lifetime movie that can be viewed all this week on Lifetime TV.
