Jennifer Lopez’s ‘The Back-Up Plan’ is the worst Romantic Comedy of 2010

‘The Back-Up Plan’ is the worst romantic comedy I have seen in years and I have seen quite a few. The movie starring Jennifer Lopez and Alex O’Loughlin had an awful, dull, boring plot and storyline that was so unbelievable and stupid that my friend and I looked at each other in shock and amazement several times during the movie.

If this was the movie that is meant to signal Jennifer Lopez’s comeback into movies then she may as well stay out of them forever. Her acting was awful, which combined with the storyline, only signaled that she has no clue and no business starring in films. And I liked ‘The Wedding Planner’ and ‘Maid in Manhattan’ so I m fairly easy to please when it comes to Rom-Coms.

The movie is about a woman, Zoe, played by Lopez, who wants a baby, gets a sperm donor and ends up pregnant. She ends up meeting Stan, the man, played by Alex O’Loughlin on the same day she got sperminated. They start to date, they fall out, they help someone from her single mother support group have a baby (with a fairly gross excretion clip that was not needed included), and she gets mad at him for some of the stupidest reasons you will ever see on film.

The only good part of the movie was Alex O’Louglin, and not because his character was great, unfortunately, his goat farmer character was even worse that Lopez’s. Especially the scene where he gets worked up about money and expenses, truly ridiculous. But Alex O’Loughlin is very hot in the movie. And you know you are in trouble when the only good part of the movie is the hot lead.

I wasn’t familiar with Alex O’Loughlin before this movie and it did lead me to research him and his acting career. He was, as some may already know, the star of ‘Moonlight’ on CBS, the vampire show that got cancelled, even though many viewers loved it and it had good ratings (it’s now on my dvd to buy list).

‘The Back-Up Plan’ is a non-funny, non-romantic movie and I do not recommend anyone to waste their hard earned money by seeing it.

Let us know how you like Moonlight. It gets better with each ep. By the time you get to ep. 4 (Fever)you will be crazy in love with Alex. And when you get to the last ep. (Sonata) you’ll be sick for more.

I’m glad you saw the one good thing about The Back Up Plan. I’ve been an Alex fan ever since I saw him play the role of vampire detective Mick St John in Moonlight. Once you watch it you are going to wonder why did they cancel. That’s another story… anyway its well worth the dollars spent…

I have just seen “The Back Up Plan” twice and being one of Alex O’Loughlin ‘s fans I was so glad to see him in this movie. I so miss “Moonlight” and I am am older fan not a cult fan. I love everything I read and hear about him. He is a wonderful actor and the best looking man in Hollywood. I just wish him luck as he deserves a chance in Hollywood. After all he was considered for the part as the next “James Bond” which went to Daniel Craig. Alex should have been our next “James Bond.”

I’ve watched Alex’s career since Moonlight and also his award winning Adventures of Mary Bryant and Oyster Farmer made in Austraila…even played a serial killer on Criminal Minds on TV that you could actually sympatize with the bad guy! He is a terrific actor, wonderful human being who cares about his fans and people he works with. I’ve heard NO ONE say anything negative about him personally or professioally. I knew JLo wouldn’t be the stand out in that movie. Hawaii Five 0 would be his real forte amd CBS better get behind him on this one or there will be many many of his adoring fans who will be heartbroken. suzanne His Forever Fan
