Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart’s relationship in ‘Breaking Dawn’ – Do fans want it to be racier?

by Jaimie Mancham-Case on May 3, 2010

Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart are the quintessential couple in the ‘Twilight’ movies: sweet, innocent, chaste and that is the way that Stephenie Meyer wanted it. However, the last book ‘Breaking Dawn’ does have a honeymoon scene and a baby and it seems as if fans want to see Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart in some racier scenes in that movie.

Many fans are excited that Bill Condon took the helm of ‘Breaking Dawn’ because ‘Dreamgirls’ was such a sensual movie, however, the NC-17 rating that many are hoping for will likely not happen. Most of the repeat viewers and obsessed fans are tweens and teens and Summit Entertainment would lose a lot of money if they made a movie that was NC-17.

Therefore it seems very unlikely that ‘Breaking Dawn’ will show anything racier than Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson kissing in bed and then waking up in the morning together, the day after the big night.

This is ridiculous, the sex in Breaking Dawn is between a MARRIED Bella and Edward. If anything this is a positive example to the over sexed ‘hooking’ up messages teenagers get from every other media source.
The sex is left to the imagination, but the birth scene–that is another story. Perhaps because it is told through Jacobs eyes, but the vomiting blood and Bella being split open could be toned down a bit for the kids.

I think if your child has already reed the books then they are aware of what happens. And parents should give there children more credit they know about what happen between a man a woman much earlier then we did when we were kids. as long as you are open with them and have explained thing in the right way there’s shouldn’t be an issue with making the move PG-13 or R. Kids now a days see much worse on TV these days any way. As long as they keep it tasteful keep true to the book don’t go cheap on the scenes. We have been waiting for this sense the first movie. Well that’s just my opinion!

Why would a parent allow their child to read Breaking Dawn anyway? It is very explicit and any child today can easily fill in the blanks with an imagination that probably makes their parents’ look like dog dreams. Amazing! If you allow your kids to read the book, but do not consent to them viewing the movie that is true to the book, you are hypocrits, mom and dad.

okay so i think teens are mature enough to watch what really happen between e/b and if not then stick to the book you know the books are way better than the movies i wish they had added more stuff that happen in the book to new moon it will be much cooler. that’s what i think personally.
just try to do breaking dawn like the book it will be better.

I agree with Zigette! Make 2 versions… problem solved.

I thought the movie industry was good at using illusions and special effects to create the outcome they are trying to show; so no they do not need to show the lovemaking of E/B nor the childbirth of Renee to create a great movie. It needs to be seen by teens and preteens alike; they are just as big fans if not bigger fans then the older moms and grandmas!! So keep the the rating at PG-13!

I agree with Natalie. The eroticism of the newlyweds was addressed tastefully in the book. It was sexier to use your imagination about what happened in the water and with the feathered pillows. Hollywood has done a dismal job with Meyer’s series so far; I’m hoping they’ll get Breaking Dawn done with style and integrity. The books were a welcome diversion during hard times. It would be nice if the movies could do the same.

Personally, I wish they would make an adult version of Breaking Dawn for those of us who would really like to see Bella and Edward get it on.

Breaking Dawn is my favorite book out of the Twilight Saga. This book is the final chapter of the love story and how the relationship has evolved. I believe that is how Stephenie Meyer intended it to be. There are many ways to portray the sex and pregnancy/delivery scenes as long as it’s done properly and in the form in which it was written. The ratings of PG-13 or NC-17 is irrelevent. There is some adult situations, commitment, true love and normal physical love that needn’t be avoided. These situations are real. I don’t believe that it is in anyone’s best interest in turning this into a soft porn movie. As a mom I feel that this an opportunity for parents to speak with their kids about these issues, if they have not yet done so. These books were written for tweens/teens and up, so the content is appropriate and as long as the movie follows the book, there is nothing to worry about. This is just my opinion.
